Hee!  Thank you, Santa!

I'm at right around 38,000 words and counting.  I may just make it after all.  :-D

Christmas Eve started well enough - everything sorted, Classic FM Carols on the TV, kids playing happily together in Tom's room, snow glistening then the mist coming down making it all seems rather mysterious and lovely. Lily and I had taken Bobby out for a walk in the snow in the morning and had had a rather boisterous snowball fight and I ended up on my bum and banged my head a little - luckily it was on soft-ish snow.

Towards teh evening started feeling a bit off it and a bit sore-throat-ish, and my neck ached a bit. Put it down to the bump I had had earlier.

Christmas Day arrived, bright and not too early (8am) and Father Christmas had been and left some bulging sacks :D I got a few lovely items, including Bruno on BluRay, a MoS 80s Anthems CD, some lovely new slippers and other stuff. Kids enjoyed their stuff too although their main pressy was money. At this time, my voice was noticeably squeaky and I was sounding like a teenage boy going though puberty!!

After dressing and tidying, we took ourselves off to my parents' house for Christmas dinner. My brother, his wife and my nephew (7) and niece (3) turned up and lovely chaos reigned. This remained so all through dinner - whilst the noise level was high, my voice was gradually getting worse, much to the amusement of my son and his uncle. My mum's Christmas dinner was, as usual, nothing short of fantastic.

Later, we sat down to watch Doctor Who. I wasnt impressed although by this time I was feeling very sorry for myself and very under the weather and voice was almost gone by this time. I fell asleep too so I cant really comment much about Who.

Anyway, a few 'Day Nurse's later, I started to perk up a bit and we played Trivial Pursuit (girls vs gals - girls won!!!!) followed by Charades - mind you, we were a bit pissed by this time LOL

And it was time for bed.

Come 5.57am, time for more chaos. I started feeling really unwell and decided I needed more 'day nurse'. Couldnt open my bedroom door! I rattled and pulled and twisted but to no avail. Got Les out of bed and he couldnt do anything either. We had to bang on the wall to my parents' bedroom to get them up. Eventually everyone was up trying to get us out of the room. Now, I'm not claustrophobic BUT it did feel as the room was closing in on me, so I wasnt happy. After much banging, clanging and prying the lock was off and the door opened. Only took 30 minutes! LOL AFter my much needed tablets and a cup of tea for my dad and my son (thanks, you heroes), everyone trotted back to bed.

And today...today...my voice is a lot lot worse. I can hardly speak now, just the odd squeak here and there and whispers mostly. Oh hum...

Despite everything, we did had a lovely, lovely Christmas - I hope everyone else did too (without the added stress of being locked in their bedrooms!! LOL)

And - Leeds are 6 points clear at the top of League One after today's wonderful win over Hartlepool - yays!

Another year, another Christmas.  This one was a good one.

Santa was quite generous.  I got gloves, a cinnamon candle, gift cards to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, Best Buy and a $100 from American Express (whee!).  I also got the kitchen utensil set I'd asked for, the DVD of Hairspray (The newer version, which I adore--I'm a Bawlmer girl now.  It's such a campy homage to the town), a sparkly bottle of wine, and some other odds and ends I'm not remembering at the moment.

Dinner was lovely, as was dessert.  I believe we'll be having ice cream sometime today as my nieces got an ice cream maker from their uncle, my brother.  Really, it was all good.

With the exception of my writing.  I blame Star Trek.  My brother-in-law wanted us all to watch a movie in their nifty new media room.  We ran through a bunch of options before deciding on Star Trek, which I've seen twice but absolutely love.  So, I sat there till 10:00, riveted to Kirk and crew's adventures.  That's kind of late to start writing.  I didn't even finish 1,000 words.

So, I'm at 34,000 and counting.  But it's only 10:30am.  I'm tucked away in the office with the laptop and coffee.  Please muses, be generous.  I need this finished by tomorrow.

::sigh::

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday as well.  It's the most wonderful time of the year, you know.

And today...it's snowing in beautiful suburban Chicago--big, wet, fluffy flakes.  :-)

I know everyone will be terribly busy tomorrow (or today--depending on where you are in the world).  But I wanted to pop my head in and wish my flist the Merriest of Christmases.  May your tree be lovely and surrounded not only by pretty packages, but by the people you love.  Thank you for making my online life such a joy.  I count myself very lucky to know you all.

In other news:
